Grow a pair (of fangs): Thank goodness for horrible, disgusting, merciless vampires
Well...let's talk about this article. I think it makes some very interesting points about vampires and what they represent metaphorically. Talk to me!! What are your thoughts?

This article was very entertaining to read. I love how the author is pretty much saying " Let's go back to when we were afraid of vampires, not falling in love with them." Before Twilight and True Blood, vampires were these horrible monsters that we'd never want to come in contact with. For some, because of this movie or tv show, it becomes a fantasy of some sort. "Here’s the test: picture seeing this dude at the end of a dimly lit alleyway. Scared? How about if it was Robert Pattinson standing there? Hell, maybe I’d mug him." Here, the author was comparing Nosferatu and Robert Pattinson, saying that because vampires are no longer being depicted as these ugly monsters such as the "Nosferatu," the fright effect is gone. Very good article, Mrs. Matysak! :)
I just don't see why everybody wants to try and judge the way vampires are depicted. Who cares if they aren't all gory blood thirsty animals? Every person is different, every vampire can be different. I think I like it better when they're romantic though. Or maybe I just like Robert Pattinson. I guess I kind of want to see fright night, but Twilight is pretty awesome, none the less.
I liked the authors view on vampires, and Twilight. When I think of vampires, I do think of bloody, deceiving, creatures that want only one thing. I'm not saying that i didn't like Twilight, the books were really good. Now-a-days, when everyone thinks of vampires, they think of the nice, shiny, loving Edward Cullen. Vampires are supposed to be scary, not all cute, cuddly and loving. The author of the article was saying something about seeing a tall, shadowy figure at the end of your hall. I would be freaking out! But, if it was Robert Pattinson, I could care less. I like how this author talks about the different ways authors deceive vampires. These days they are seen as nice creatures, they want blood but want to get it in a humane way. As in Dracula, he wants the blood, and is going to get it no matter what. Twilight is a good story, but I prefer my stories to be very suspenseful and edgy. Maybe throw in a little gore, and I would be good to go.
