On page 140 in Chapter 5, the part of this chapter that was really interesting to me was when the Professor discovered Lucy. The line was "There on the bed, seemingly in a swoon, lay poor Lucy, more horribly white and wan-looking than ever. Even the lips were white, and the gums seemed to have shrunken back from the teeth, as we sometimes see in a corpse after a prolonged illness". The reason this was interesting to me was they have realized that Lucy is beginning to turn into a vampire and there is really nothing that can be done about it. They try to give Lucy blood, but it is a failed attempt. In the end, they end up giving Lucy. Each day they go back to check on Lucy, hoping she will get better, but she looks the same as she did on the first day.

Yes, it's good that readers have a clear description of what the process looks like. But what is it exactly that you find interesting about this description? Did you think the transition would look physically different?

Yes, I kind of thought she might look different when the transformation was happening. I was expecting her teeth to be sharper and pointier right when it happened.
