On page 177 in Chapter 12, a really sad part of this chapter is at the end where it said "Lucy's eyes closed; and Van Helsing, who had been watching closely, took Arthur's arm, and drew him away. And then Lucy's breathing became stertorous again, and all at once it ceased."
"'It is all over,'said Van Helsing. 'She is dead!' This is really sad because Arthur was right there when it happened and wasn't even really able to ell her goodbye.

A line that struck me in Chapter 12was on page 176. It read " We thought her dying whilst she slept, And sleeping when she died." This line is perfect for the situation because all the while when Lucy was sick but barely alive, Van Helsing and Dr. Seward would describe her having pale cheeks, pale gums, thin hands, and colorless lips. However, when she passes, the text reads again on page 176 " Death had given back part of her beauty, for her brow and cheeks had recovered some of their flowing lines;" This line is saying that although she is no longer a breathing human with blood running through her veins, she is more beautiful now then she was in the last days of her life.

So "death" becomes Lucy? Does that surprise anybody?
